It is the greatest feeling win the world helping other people become successful at their goals.  Joycelyn’s journey is amazing, and if you met her, you wouldn’t believe all she went through to get to where she is now.  She lost weight, overcame aches and pains, and made a complete 180 degree turn on her lifestyle.  I’ll let Joycelyn tell you in her own words (in the video below), but I can assure you that this is not the end of her story.  I know her well enough to know that this is just a small milestone in all that she will accomplish.

Joycelyn’s Before Photos

When Joycelyn first started personal training with me for weight loss, she came to see me 2-3 times a week.  We were working hard on learning new habits, new ways to exercise, how to cycle through various styles of workout programs, and creating healthy lifestyle habits.  This was the learning phase that set the foundation for her future program.  Ultimately, it was her that created the change, but my goal was to teach her and guide her during the personal training sessions.  When she came in originally, she was ready to lose weight, and she made very rapid progress because of her determination and focus.

Making Progress

As she continued to make progress she became more and more independent.  She worked out more on her own, and depended less on the personal training.  She learned how to workout and didn’t need as much one-on-one attention.  She continued to lose weight and get healthier.  It was this point when she began to get involved in what I call, “Lifestyle Activities”.  Getting involved in lifestyle activities is often what separates those that maintain weight loss results vs those that gain the weight back.  She began bicycling and playing tennis.  The wonderful thing about these activities is that they can be done for hours and are often enjoyable for the individual involved.  I personally believe this is what keeps Joycelyn on track week after week.  She only meets with me once a month now in order to talk about what she has done over the last month, her current goals, and then we design a game plan to help her accomplish them over the next month.  She has a strong foundation of knowledge now, and she is constantly learning and researching on her own.  She also focuses on getting outside the gym on a regular basis.  Not only does she still continue to bicycle, but she also joins us for our fitness adventures (tennis, hiking, dragon boat racing).  I consider her a very inspiring individual, and am very proud of all she has done.

Accomplishing GoalsCongratulations to Joycelyn for becoming the February Client Testimonial of the Month.  Take a look at the video below.

Below is her original testimonial

When I joined the gym where I first met Jason, I had some aches and pains that plagued me to the point that I did not want to exercise, and I was overweight, under-whelmed. I wanted to get into better shape so I could become physically active. I sought a trainer because I did not know how to work around the physical pain I was experiencing. I expected a trainer to help me with an exercise program that would not exasperate my prior injuries, and would give me a beginning point to reach my weight and fitness goals.
It did not take me long to realize that being assigned to train with Jason was a blessing. Jason not only helped me with an effective exercise program but also showed me specific exercises to correct problems that caused me to have aches and pains that plagued me and kept me from wanting to exercise. Jason also helped me reach my nutrition goals with lots of tips and ideas of how to make better nutritional choices.
Training with Jason has been a true life changing experience. I have changed my way of thinking about nutrition and exercise. I have reclaimed my health and looked forward to each day in the gym. Also, I learned how to plan my meals and physical activities to maximize the results I am seeking. So far I have lost 22 pounds and dropped from a size 10 dress to a size 4! I have almost reached my initial goals and have now set new and exciting goals for my health and my life. I have and will continue to recommend Jason to friends, family and acquaintances.
