If you think you have good balance, give this simple test a try.  I think you’ll be surprised.

I saw an interesting thing on the way to work this morning. It was a bird that was only able to use one leg, so he had to hop everywhere he went. He could fly, but when he was on the ground looking for worms or bugs, he could only use one leg.  Watching him made me think about balance.

How many of us do not pay attention enough to our balance? As we age, we lose more and more of our balance, to the point that we are unstable and have to rely on canes, walkers, or wheelchairs.
Try this simple test to see how good your balance is.
Stand on one leg. If you feel stable with that, try closing your eyes. If you can close your eyes and stand on one foot for 25 seconds, that’s a great start.

Now, if that was easy for you, try standing on your tip-toes, one leg, with your eyes open. If that’s still easy, see if you can do the same thing with your eyes closed for 25 seconds.
I really don’t think you should ever quit working on your balance and stability. The more you have, the better off you will be as you aged. Try this simple test, see how you do, and strive to get better over time.
