Exercising after an Ankle Sprain
Here at Medical Fitness Pros, we specialize in working with clients with ankles sprains. Depending on the severity of the sprain, you may have had physical therapy, it could be a variety of different things depending on the degree of the sprain that you have. For us, we’re going to look at your ankle, we’re going to do a full evaluation, consult with your doctor, and help to strengthen and get stability back to the ankle, increased flexibility where appropriately, and get you to where you can exercise properly. If the ankle is really bothering you and you’re having a lot of pain, we’ll help guide you in how to get back to the program.
Post-Rehab for Ankle Sprains
Now, we’re not going to take the place of physical therapy, so if you’ve been prescribed physical therapy, you should definitely do that first. If you’ve been discharged from physical therapy or if it wasn’t severe enough, we come in handy for that. We can help you with establishing a program that’s going to be safe for you, and help you achieve the results of getting that full range of motion back and getting that strength back to the ankle.
Regaining Strength in the Ankle
There has been some interesting studies about how powerful exercise is and how, by strengthening a lot of the supporting musculature, you can provide stability to the ankle. When you’ve constantly sprained an ankle over and over again, it’s more likely to be sprained again. So, we want to do everything we can to provide stability to that ankle so you quit spreading it over and over again, and that you begin to learn how to strengthen the ankle so that it has the stability so you can play sports or be active or even walk in heels without the constant ankle sprains.
So, if that’s something you’re dealing with, give us a call, contact us. We would be glad to meet with you for an evaluation, tell you more about our program and how we can help you. Thank you so much.
