What is Medical Fitness Pros?

Medical Fitness Pros helps people, like yourself, lose weight, improve their health, and regain control of their life.  We take the time to do a thorough health analysis, musculoskeletal screening, discuss your goals, consult your physicians, and create a custom plan to live the healthy life you have always envisioned.  For more information about what we do and how Medical Fitness Pros came into existance, take a look at a recent Absolutely! Magazine article featuring Jason Hodge.

Weight Loss

What types of programs do you offer?

We offer a variety of fitness training programs based on the client’s capabilities and goals.  Individual (one-on-one), Couple Training (two-on-one), and Small Group Training (up to 4-5 people at once).  Our programs can be for weight loss only or can be specialty classes (Diabetes for weight loss or Fibromyalgia for weight loss).

Can I still lose weight, even if I am dealing with a particular medical condition?

Medical Fitness Pros can help you lose weight even when you are dealing with a medical condition.  We apply our years of experience to designing a program that helps you work around your issue without making it worse.  For instance, if you have a frozen shoulder, we will create a fitness program that uses your other muscle groups to burn calories and show you various ways to do cardio without affecting your joint.  If you are not dealing with a medical condition, it is even easier for us to help you lose weight.

Will you help me with my nutrition?

We will help you with your nutrition in particular circumstances.  We will guide you with proper eating principles and even discuss what you should eat throughout the day.  However, in the state of Texas, a licensed Registered Dietician is the most qualified person to design a nutrition program to you.  If we feel you need to see a Registered Dietician after talking with you, we will refer you to them.  Once your nutrition program is in place, we will monitor you to ensure you are following your plan.

Fitness

What kind of fitness results can I expect to see from a Katy, TX Personal Trainer?

Fitness results when personal training should occur at a pretty rapid pace.  You will push harder in your workouts, stay more focused on your nutrition plan, and find yourself working out more consistently.  Your results will show up as inches lost as well as weight loss.  We have clients who have lost 100 pounds when they following our programs.  No matter how big or small your goal is, you are just as capable.

How long will it take for me to see results with a Katy, TX Personal Trainer?

You should begin to see results in the first month.  Some clients drop weight the very first week and others do not see the benefits until a couple of weeks in to the program.  What you get out of it will be determined by what you put in to it.  If you follow our instructions when you are outside of the gym, it will show.

Do I need a Personal Trainer or Personal Training?

Personally, I believe everyone who is striving to achieve results can benefit from someone else helping them with their program, including personal trainers.  When someone else is able to look over your fitness program they will notice the things that need to be changed.  Even a personal trainer is only looking over your program once a month, their insight could make drastic differences in your results.

What kinds of Personal Training do you offer to your clients?

All of our services are customized for our clients.  Even our group training programs are customized based on the individuals and their goals, independently from the other participants in the class.  Simply put, we create programs that will help you change your health and achieve your personal goals.

Are you going to make me a bodybuilder?

We are not the type of gym that works with bodybuilders or turns people in to bodybuilders, but we will refer you if that is your desire.  Our training programs are designed to help people tone up and have more energy.  We use weights, but we will not turn you into a bodybuilder.

How often should I meet with a personal trainer?

Our clients typically visit 1-3 times a week.  We help clients establish an educational basis for a fitness program, and then our goal is the make them independent for us.  We do not believe you should become dependent on our services for the rest of your life.

Why do I need a program custom designed for me?

Custom programs produce better results.  They help you work on your weaknesses, and use your strengths to move you closer to your goals.

How are you different from a trainer at a chain gym like 24 Hour Fitness or Bally’s?

All of the personal trainers at Medical Fitness Pros are required to complete the most advanced certifications in the industry.  Most personal training certifications are weekend courses.  The minimal certification allowed at Medical Fitness Pros is a 3 month certification and a 6 month internship.  This ensures you are getting a qualified person to work with you.

What types of clients do you work with?

We work with clients who want to lose weight, those who are trying to exercise in spite of a medical condition, and athletes that are trying to perform at their maximal level.

How long are your sessions?

Our sessions are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes in length.

What do I do if I need to miss a session?

We ask for a 24 hour notice for cancelled sessions.  If you have a scheduled session and have to leave town, you will not lose your session.  We simply add it on to the end of your scheduled fitness program.

Is personal training expensive?

If you have a limited budget for fitness services, we can find a way to work with you.  We have such a wide variety of programs that we can find a way to accomodate you.  Also, as you begin to improve your health, you will find you end up saving money on medications, health conditions, and even the grocery bill.

Can you accommodate my busy schedule?

We have a great team of personal trainers that work together to help you.  We start at 6 AM and work until 8 PM at night.  No matter how busy your schedule is, we can find a way to accomodate you.

Do you offer weekend sessions?

We often work with clients on Saturday mornings.  We are closed on Sunday.

Do you offer in-home training?

We have 2 studios we operate from.  Because our schedule is rather full, it is difficult for us to visit clients at their home.  Please contact us at 281-500-6055 if you are unable to leave your home for fitness training.

What type of exercises will I be doing?

Your exercise program will be designed specifically for you.  Often times we create fitness programs using only the items you have access to.  If you are planning on working out at home, our program will use those particular items to incorporate exercises for all of the body parts you need to work.  Every person’s program is unique to them and their goals.

Medical

How are you different than other Personal Trainers?

All Medical Fitness Pros’ Personal Trainers have achieved a 3 month personal training course and a 6 month internship.  We complete the American Association of Health, Fitness, and Rehab Professionals – Post Rehab program as a minimal requirement.  Because most personal training certifications are weekend courses, but we do not feel the other certifications meet the needs of our clients.

What kind of Fitness Training can I expect?

Our fitness training is a mixture of dealing with your medical condition, working on other muscle groups, and helping you develop healthy eating habits.  We work with you on every aspect of your health.

How often should I meet with a personal trainer?

Medical Fitness Pros consults your physician before beginning any fitness program.  Together we decide on the number of visits necessary for you to achieve your goals.

What if I have an injury?

Medical Fitness Pros’ personal trainers has extensive, research, and understanding in over 100 medical conditions.  If you have a condition that we do not have a thorough understanding of, we will research it and speak to your physician before we begin to work with you.

Do you take insurance?

We can’t always take insurance, but there are certain situations when Medical Fitness Pros will take insurance.

In what situations will you accept insurance?

1) The client must have insurance coverage through a workman’s compensation, motor vehicle accident claim or have a third party insurance carrier such as Cigna, AETNA, or United.

2) The client must have sustained a traumatic injury and/or underwent surgery. Example of this would be a client with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee or a disc herniation in the lumbar spine either of which has surgery to correct the injury. These clients need long-term supervised exercise after the completion of physical therapy or chiropractic care is done.

3) The client must have residual functional deficits that are present after the client has completed physical therapy and/or chiropractic care. At some point the client no longer needs physical therapy or chiropractic but there are still functional deficits that impair the client’s function. These include functional limits in ROM/flexibility, strength, power, endurance, balance, proprioception, joint stability, muscle recruitment and coordination. The post rehab exercise program addresses these deficits after discharge from physical therapy.

4) The client has a signed referral from his or her physician or physical therapist requesting a supervised functional conditioning program.

5) The client has received the maximum benefit from physical therapy and chiropractic care. The client has been through a course of physical therapy and/or chiropractic and reached the maximum level of function with these services and now is discharged. The client must be seen by a licensed medical professional prior to referral for post rehab services. This ensures the proper care and treatment are delivered in the acute and subacute stages following the injury.

The above list is the criteria set for insurance reimbursement from the American Academy of Health, Fitness, and Rehab Professionals.

In what situations will you not accept insurance?

We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid and sometime cannot work with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Do I have to have a referral form from my physician to work with Medical Fitness Pros?

Not necessarily. Our fitness program does not require a referral from your physician unless you have a pre-existing medical condition.

Do you provide physical therapy?

Medical Fitness Pros does not provide physical therapy. If you are referred to us for physical therapy services, we will re-direct you to a physical therapy clinic for services and can then work with you after being discharged. We do this so you can get the best care possible for the situation you are in. If you are in need of ultrasound or other similar services, we will do what is best for you to make a quick recovery.
