A Katy Summer Slimdown Challenge Participants Testimonial

This week I want to share a story from one of the participants of the Katy Summer Slimdown Challenge.  She has achieved what she sought at the beginning of the contest.  Hear her story and leave yours as well in the comment section.

I honestly have to say I have been pushing myself on my workouts now. I am doing the Cathe Friedrich DVD’s and it’s like having a PT right there with me pushing me to accomplish new things. Last week I put weight on my barbell. Not much but I know that no matter how small it is, it’s still an accomplishment and I am going to keep at it and one day will need to add more weight. I have not lost weight, but then again that’s not really my goal. But I have seen my body firm up and my legs firm up rather quickly. I have noticed I have a lot more stamina and energy. I now take the stairs up to the bathroom instead of the one right next to me at work. I used to feel worn out when I went up the stairs at work but not anymore. I actually enjoy it. I can’t wait to get home from work to work out and I actually hate my rest days. (Only 1 a week sometimes 2 if I have a busy week.) If there are days I am busy or don’t want to work out, I put on my workout clothes and that means I have to workout now. I’m dressed for it. :) Even everyday when I get home I can’t wait to workout but then there is the bed and if I lay in it too long I know I won’t get up so I get right into my workout clothes get my equipment ready and push myself to do it. Once it all over and done with I am glad I did it.

As far as my diet. I have noticed I do need a lot more food to help with my workouts. I do a good mix of cardio and weights. So I try to eat good carbs and protein. I kind of do everything in moderation, but not to the point I eat a small cookie everyday. I stock my kitchen full of natural sugars like fruit. If I am craving something sweet I’ll have some fruit. Ok every now and then I cave in and have ice cream. (That Tagalong Blizzard at DQ is awesome) But I know a small one of those won’t mess up all I have worked for so I eat it and enjoy it then I am right back to my workouts and eating right. Cathe Friedrich recommends clean eating. I find that kind of hard but I’m slowly getting into it. When I’m at the store I just have to ask myself if man made this then I shouldn’t eat it, or more like is it worth it to eat it even though man made it. LOL. That’s where I am at now on the ”Clean Eating” And that’s more then where I was at when I started so there is progress. And some is better then none at all. But I have known all this before. I worked at a gym years ago but had never pushed myself or had the discipline to do any of it until now. And I never thought I would like it this much. But I do.
