It seems like the weekend is always a tough time for people.  The weekends are when we socialize and get out of our normal routine.  The week, while it may be redundant, has structure and order to it.  But the weekends are the time you catch up on the things that need to be done at home, shop, visit people, socialize, and basically take a break from your normal routine.  Often times, our weekends seem to break us from the good habits we developed.  The weekends tend to throw us off, and on Monday we have to reboot again.  So where do you begin?

The best place to begin is to set up a plan for the week.

1. Set up new goals and decide what you want to accomplish this week.  Set reasonable goals.  (Here's an article I wrote about goal setting for the Chronicle's website.)
2. Take it one day at a time.  Don't try to make up for the weekend.  Just move forward from today and don't let the weekend make you feel guilty.
3. Stinkin' Thinkin'.  Many of you have preconceived ideas that you are going to fail.  If this is you, you have no choice but to change your way of thinking if you want to be successful.  I heard someone say this weekend that our mind thinks as many as 1,200 words per minute and 1,100 are negative.  What do you believe about yourself and who you are?

What are your goals this week?  Put them in the comment section below.

Re: There's Something About Mondays

The top goal I have for this week is to stay on my food program. Boy, what a difference that makes in my emotional and physical well being. Plus, I have so much more energy when I do.

Exercise goals for the week:

Monday - interval training
Tuesday - strength training / walking
Wednesday - interval training
Thursday - (hopefully an early morning session with Jason)
Friday - interval / strength training
Saturday - (depending on the weather) a nice long walk/run in the park in my neighborhood (Waterside Estates).

if anyone would like to walk with me on Friday in the park, let me know.

Thanks,
Carolyn

Re: There's Something About Mondays

1st goal: not to disappear on you. will constantly engage myself
with your blog several days a week to get motivated.
2nd goal: work on anything that could provide me with good
results on March weigh-in, even if its only 3-5 lbs.
and even if its from my brain; lose some inches in my
body.

Re: There's Something About Mondays

My goal for the week is to stop snacking on my kids' food...permanently! It is far too easy to walk by their plates and take a bite of their cheese sandwhich, french fry and whatever tempting morsel is on their plate. Don't get me wrong, they don't eat that everyday, but their food always going to be more tempting than mine. It's a total waste if I've done my workout for the day, had a nice healthy meal of grilled chicken and a side of veggies....and then proceded to finish off my son's cheeseburger that he left of the plate!

Re: There's Something About Mondays

I'm traveling this week (from Sunday-Thursday). It's sometimes difficult to stay focused while traveling. So, I'm going to continue to eat my 5 meals a day, sticking to my nutrition plan where ever possible. When it is not possible, I will eat foods that are prepared as close to their original state as possible. In addition, I am planning to work out on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, and Thursday morning.

When I return, I'll get back on my nutrition plan and workout on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
