I met so many people excited about the Katy Slimdown Challenge yesterday.  We measured between 110 and 120 people and I have to admit, I feel it today.  I've never measured that many people before.  To explain it, we scheduled at the most, 12 people per hour, which would be equivalent to 10 hours of one participant coming in every 5 minutes.  I tell you that because there are many of you that i am still in the process of contacting.  So forgive me for not contacting you right away, I promise you, I will get to you soon.

I appreciate that I was able to personally meet every single one of you in the contest.  I want everyone to get results.  Obviously not everyone can win, but I want each of you to be successful.  So after meeting all of you, I have a few general topics that I feel I need to convey to you.

  1. Sensible Nutrition - Some of you said you have a good nutrition plan, and some of you said that you needed help with your nutrition.  Let me be very clear on this, if you are not loosing weight, your nutrition plan is off.  It's really that simple.  A proper nutrition plan can help you lose weight even if you are not exercising.  So if you are struggling with your weight loss, this is the first thing I'm going to look at.  If you want us to analyze your nutrition and help you with it, please download and install our nutrition program.  Go ahead and start analyzing your food and we will have a look at your food log when we meet with you.
  2. Smart Cardiovascular Program - Please don't just start running if you don't already run.  There are several reasons you shouldn't run.  When you do your cardio, I highly suggest you do interval training if you want to do well in this contest.
  3. Proper Strength Training - Follow a consistent strength training program 2-3 times a week.  It will make a world of difference in your results.  This contest is much different from our last one.  This time we didn't just measure weight, so we will know if you lost weight or body fat.  The winner will be based off body fat more than weight.
  4. Reasonable Goals - Please set and follow reasonable goals.  Working out an hour every day is not a good goal.  I'm sorry, but it's not.  If you haven't been exercising, set a small goal of 4-5 times a week and then work your way up after 2-3 weeks of this.  Set your goals too high at the beginning and you will just find yourself frustrated.  Trust me on this.  Typically, half the people in a weight loss contest drop out before it's over.  In this contest, I want every single one of you to finish what you started.  The winner will be the person who was consistent, not the one who went crazy by working out 7-10 hours a week at the beginning.
  5. Learn, learn, learn.  If you didn't know by now, I want to help you out.  That's the whole purpose of this contest.  Take a look at my Year in Review post and learn as much as you can.  I've shared a lot of information with you that will help you achieve your goals.
  6. Ask for help.  Don't be too proud to ask for help.  We offer nutrition services, personal training, and group training.  If you really want a jump start on everyone else by getting some personalized advice, contact us and let us help you.  You won't regret it.

Jason,

Wow -- over 100 people! That's exciting that so many of us have at least taken the first step. Thanks so much for having this challenge. Even though it was a quick 5 minutes, it was obvious that you want each of us to succeed.

Jason -

I second what Brenda said. Thanks for the information. I know it will be helpful for me. I also thank you for your interest in our success. It is a motivator for me to do my very best. This is the first time I have ever been part of a weight loss challenge so I am really excited about it!
